Nectarine Tomato Green Smoothie

February 13, 2012 By: fruitmonster Category: FruitMonster Blog

Yep! Tomatoes in a smoothie! Hey, it wouldn’t be the first time.  Even it if sounds strange, tomatoes are actually a fantastic smoothie ingredient, as the dates and other sweet fruits, are very complimentary!  Plus, nectarines (or peaches!) and tomatoes are in season here in Australia, so this is a perfect time to try one of these babies out!  I used fresh tomatoes out of my garden!

Nectarine Tomato Green Smoothie Recipe:

2 c orange juice (or water, just add a few more dates)

2 small or 1 large tomato

2-3 necatrines (2 large or 3 small)

4 c of greens (kale, spinach, chard, lettuce)

5-10 dates (5 large or 10 small)

Submarine that nectarine into green smithereens

Serves one monster (yields ~1 L)

Apple Pear Banana Green Smoothie

August 31, 2011 By: fruitmonster Category: Smoothie Recipes

Would would have thunk it?  A smoothie made with three of the fruits found most commonly in Australian and American households is one of the most delicious to make the site yet!  Odds are, you probably have an apple, pear and a banana in your house right now (well, thanks to Yassi, maybe not the banana…).  If you don’t, then it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to make that happen so you can whip this smoothie up ‘right quick’! (Aussie accent!)

Apple Pear Banana Green Smoothie Recipe:

2 c water

1 medium apple

1 medium pear

1 medium banana

3-4 c greens of choice (I used romaine/cos, or try spinach/chard/kale!)

20 dates

Wrestle ‘em into that blender and beat ‘em to a smoothie pulp!

Pineapple Banana Pear Green Smoothie

August 28, 2011 By: fruitmonster Category: Smoothie Recipes

Sorry America, but Australia just does pineapples better.  So much better in fact, that I’ve found a new love for them.  And that means they are going to be making some repeat appearances in the Fruitmonster.com smoothie recipe section of this blog!  Is your inner berry excited? (A pineapple is actually coalesced berries!) It should be!

So where do we start?  How about with a tropical remix of the Banana Pear Smoothie?  Sounds fruitastic to me!

Pineapple Banana Pear Green Smoothie Recipe:

2 cups water

1/3 of a medium size pineapple (Or 1/4 of a large pineapple) – and HEY!  YEAH YOU CUTTING OUT THE ‘HEART’, ‘CUT’ THAT NONSENSE OUT INSTEAD!!

1.5 medium pears – green, brown, whatever you want!

1 medium banana

3-4 c of your green of choice! (spinach, kale, lettuce, chard, etc.)

20 dates

Amalgamate and annihilate!  Satisfies one monster!  (Yields ~ 1 L)

Banana Pear Green Smoothie

August 17, 2011 By: fruitmonster Category: Smoothie Recipes

Since moving to Australia, I’ve had to change tactics with my smoothie creation a bit, whipping up smoothie recipes with more fresh produce and less frozen fruits.  The primary reason for this is that Australian’s don’t seem to have much in the way of frozen fruits, besides those in the berry category.  At first I was a bit disappointed about this situation, but I’m no longer going to waste any time being bummed!  Since this lack of frozen fruits has forced me to think differently, you will get a whole new batch of smoothie recipes!

So here’s the firstie!  The all important introductory initial savory blend!  And it’s rather simple really… the Banana Pear Green Smoothie!  The banana pear combo takes two ordinary fruits and creates a fruitastically flavorful smoothie!  A smoothie that has earned its place as a new favorite of mine!

The Banana Pear Green Smoothie Recipe:

2 cups of water

2 *ripe* pears – don’t get fooled into using hard, green, sour pears!

2 medium bananas

3-4 cups of the green of your choice!  Pictured here is Silverbeet (aka chard, or according to Australian supermarkets “spinach”… I’m confused!)

20 dates  (or 3-4 tbsp/60-80 mL agave nectar)

Feeds one monster! (Yields about 1 liter of smoothie)
