Banana Pear Green Smoothie
Since moving to Australia, I’ve had to change tactics with my smoothie creation a bit, whipping up smoothie recipes with more fresh produce and less frozen fruits. The primary reason for this is that Australian’s don’t seem to have much in the way of frozen fruits, besides those in the berry category. At first I was a bit disappointed about this situation, but I’m no longer going to waste any time being bummed! Since this lack of frozen fruits has forced me to think differently, you will get a whole new batch of smoothie recipes!
So here’s the firstie! The all important introductory initial savory blend! And it’s rather simple really… the Banana Pear Green Smoothie! The banana pear combo takes two ordinary fruits and creates a fruitastically flavorful smoothie! A smoothie that has earned its place as a new favorite of mine!
The Banana Pear Green Smoothie Recipe:
2 cups of water
2 *ripe* pears – don’t get fooled into using hard, green, sour pears!
2 medium bananas
3-4 cups of the green of your choice! Pictured here is Silverbeet (aka chard, or according to Australian supermarkets “spinach”… I’m confused!)
20 dates (or 3-4 tbsp/60-80 mL agave nectar)
Feeds one monster! (Yields about 1 liter of smoothie)
